If you have a firm hand on the wheel, you're fine. Obviously you're not driving like this around a downtown or in a parking lot-that would be hard, and stupid. But driving on a highway, this is fine. If you are holding the wheel firmly, you won't have it wrenched out of your hand by a gust of wind or running over something; you can turn enough to avoid a collision, I'm sure. As others have mentioned, the danger is using fingertips, knees, elbows, etc. to steer; then you have no way turning in an emergency, not even a little bit. |

Yes, it is. You sould have your left hand on the steering wheel, the right on the shifter, the right foot on the accelerator, and the left foot on the clutch. Just don't ride the clutch though...;} |

Maybe, if you can still reach the steering wheel and grip it, then it's fine, although you probably don't have the best control.
If your driving on finger tips or knees, then it's not safe. |
