What is it called when you come off the expressway and then feel like you're driving really slow.?

I think it starts with a v. It might be vertigo, but I'm pretty sure that it's not it. Can someone help please?

The ACTUAL term is "speed acclimation."

It means that your brain is "acclimated," or gotten used to the apparent "speed" of the scenery outside your vehicle, passing by at a certain rate. Typical freeway speeds tend to remain nearly the same for the length of the trip, not varying much, unless traffic gets in the way.

So, If you've been traveling some distance at sixty to seventy miles per hour, once you get off of the freeway, the thirty-five, forty miles per hour limit feel VERY slow. If a driver is not paying attention to the limits, they can easily drift up to higher speeds without even realizing it.

Where I live, there is a traffic light at the end of the off-ramp, so if you are driving really slow, it is usually because you are stopping for a red light.

Vertigo is a type of dizziness or lightheadedness.

stanleys got it right.

The term is 'velocitization' (sorry for the spelling).

It's not a real term but it is a commonly known slang for that.

It's not vertigo, that's when you don't know up from down and get dizzy, especially at heights or in an airplane without visual references.
