Yellow speed signs (a law or suggestion) in Pennsylvania?

I live in a state (Pennsylvania) where yellow speed limit signs are put up at places on the road where drivers should use caution. However, I have been told that it is only a suggestion and not a requirement. If it were a requirement, then why don't they just post white speed limit signs? I obey the yellow ones, but was wondering if it was the law?

Yes,yellow is a suggested speed limit...White is a required speed limit. The yellow, lets say you went too fast around a turn and crashed...You want to sue the state for too steep of a turn...You cannot sue because they posted a suggested speed limit that you did not obey...The color of the signs are set by federal law not state..

It is an advisory, but depending on where it is that could turn in to driving too fast for conditions. Say it's a turn and has an advisory sign of 35, but you are going 60. The cops can call that speeding, based on the idea of speeding being going too fast for conditions. You won't be cited as going 60 in a 35, just cited for driving too fast for conditions.

Yellow speed signs are there to warn and advise you of conditions that may affect you. A yellow speed sign does not mean that its an enforceable limit but is advice that it may be prudent to slow down to that speed especially if you are driving a large vehicle such as a truck or van. You cannot be cited for violating a speed posted on such a sign........
