am i wrong to overtake a stalled car on a one lane painted roundabout?

Today i picked my child up and was driving home and the person in front of me was driving at about 10 miles per hour in a 30 mph zone, so i slowed down and followed. We then came to a painted one lane roundabout and the car in front indicated to turn off at the first left so i drove behind as i wanted to go straight ahead but suddenly the car in front stopped which caused me to stop and in doing so blocking oncoming traffic so rather than cause an accident i calmly checked to see if it was safe for me to overtake the car and indicated out and drove out round the car and in doing so the car that had stalled started again and the person was beeping at me furiously! Was i wrong to over take?

Pugsley	If the car was stalled - what else can you do ? I suspect the driver stopped for some other reason - just forget it .
