Yeah it's not policed. They are risking their lives by doing so - quite a few cyclists get killed each year doing that. Also, they're in Sydney - the traffic is crazy whether you're in a car or on a bike.

various reasons. they dont have number plates to record the offence described. they thought it was safe to do so and usually it is as i often sit in traffic waiting for the lights to change when there is nothing coming the other way anyhow. then some may not have a drivers licence and not be aware of any traffic rules. should cyclist then drive in the middle of the lane in front of a car and use the same road rules,i think not. cyclist drive on the side of the road in order not to hold the cars up but will go past you as you are waiting for the lights to change. it also helps the flow of traffic as bicycle lanes are simply not there and cyclist are at mercy of how good a driver will pass them. so this is a result due to lack the of infastructure. the reason they choose to ride a bike is not to be stuck in traffic and to be evironmentally friendly at the same time. 2 wheels good 4 wheels bad. but on one is the best

The NSW road rules state that all cyclists must stop at red lights and pedestrian crossings. Unfortunately they all think they are above the law and think they can do whatever they like. I guess the police don't have the time or the resources to chase some lycra clad twit on a bike. I would love to see one pulled over and given a fine though. That would be hilarious. Maybe one day cyclists will wake up and realise they must share the road with cars and pedestrians. The world will be a much better place then.
