How to adopt a child with no money for adoption fees, ect.?

I am 6 months pregnant and I want a very close family friend to adopt my child and she wants to. She says she would like to adopt my child and raise it however she doesn't have the money to go through an agency. What should we do?

Hi, Adoption can be an excellent option for many people. As your friend does not have the funds to work with, you can speak with a lawyer (first consult is usually free) on how to proceed. I'm pretty sure that you'll sign your rights over to the new mother; just make sure to have the consent of the childs father as well. It should just be nominal fee for paperwork and the lawyers time. Ignore any harsh comments you might get on here....so many of the people want to put their personal drama on others I hope all goes well.

YOU DO HAVE TO GET THE FATHER TO CONSENT TO THE ADOPTION BUT I AM LOOKING TO ADOPT AND HAVE DECIDED TO FIND MY OWN BIRTHMOM INSTEAD OF AN AGENCY AND IN ORDER FOR YOUR FRIEND TO ADOPT DEPENDING ON YOUR STATE SHE HAS TO HAVE A HOMESTUDY AND GET AN ATTORNEY WHICH DEPENDING ON YOUR STATE WILL COST ANYWHERE FROM 3000 TO 5000. HOPE THIS HELPS,IF YOU NEED ANY ADVICE FEEL FREE TO ASK

Do you have the father's consent? Nothing happens without it. And if I understand US adoption laws (up for correction if I don't), you both can see a lawyer and get the paperwork done for the fees being charged. Why don't you wait until the baby is born to do all of this? If she is a real friend, she will understand the wait and help you in the following weeks to see if parenting is something you should be doing, not her. If adoption is still your choice...she will have proven herself a friend and likely keep you involved in some way so the child has his or her full identity intact. (as much as possible).

In order to proceed through the private adoption process, the adoptive parents will need to acquire consent from the biological parents and follow some court procedures. The process for private adoption will vary from state to state. If you are interested in pursuing private adoption, you should consult with a family law attorney as soon as possible.

Hey did you just like get pregnant to have a child to give to your family friend? Giving away the baby already? I don't think you should give it to her though since its your baby and your suppose to love for it, not your friend. Maybe you wait until it comes out and see how cute it is. I hope you really reconsider.

If she can't afford to hire a lawyer, then she can't afford to raise your child. Keep the kid.

You should keep your baby. Why would you even consider giving your child away, much less give the child to someone who cant even afford the paperwork???? Babies do not want to be raised by ANYONE else other than his or her natural mother.

Just go through a lawyer and get all the legal documents that need to be signed, signed.
