is it difficult to adopt a baby?

Always knew there were other reasons why I shouldn't adopt apart from the obvious reason why I don't want to adopt. Anyway to answer your question yes it is difficult to adopt babies as demand far exceeds supply thank goodness.

trinity	A white healthy baby, yes. A black baby, no. The system is overloaded with black babies that are up for adoption. The state will even give you a small amount of money and keep medical coverage on them. You can be single also. Foreign babies are about $30,000 a piece. I have 2 friends that adopted from Guatemala and 2 from china.

Gabbylou12	Yes sometimes it can take up to two years. You have to go through a really long process and some countries take longer than others to adopt a child from.

Natasha	not really just can be long. you have to contact an agency and if you meet their requirements like how much money you need to make, you then pay fees, and so on you have to be evaluated mentally and attend counseling and workshops and so on. then you make your house ready for a baby then the social worker will go through your home and do a report on you, such as a home study. you will also have to participate in workshops. you will then write a letter to prospective birth parents as well as make a photo album. the parents get to choose you. open adoptions are the most chosen so if you want a closed adoption expect to wait. that is not to say you will get a baby right away if you choose to participate in an open adoption. there are a few different types of adoptions, first you send updates about the baby, pictures and letter. or the baby knows the birth mother and there is visits. or lastly closed adoption, self explanatory. btw i went with catholic social services and they were great. if you go with a religious type you have to be that type of religion.

sk8ermom	Its really not that difficult but it is expensive. Have a budget ready of about $30K for domestic. Could be higher could be much lower. Depends on the mothers expenses and health insurance. Expect to wait around 2 years. This can vary widely because the mother picks you. I don't know anything about and if you fit the "model" adoptive parents. Also, it depends on what kind of needs you are open to. Perfect healthy white babies are much harder to come by. Consider special needs and all races before you start the process. International has more paperwork but really isn't that difficult. Expect lots of stress!
