I was born in Madison, WI, my mother was a french citizen and still is. My dad was a sicilian but got his US citizenship before I was born. I recieve mail from the French Embassy in Chicago often about whatever military stuff, elections. So yea just wondering how hard would it be, how much and how long would it take

by receiving the documents from the embassy/consulate from Chicago? means your mother has registered your birth to the consulate already,
otherwise you would not receive these mails.but also should have (registered for the draft)which in France is no longer in effect,and you can vote in France, so? get in touch with the consulate and get your mother's birth certificate (father also)along with her passport,marriage certificate,your birth certificate,and get the process going,to have your passport, i assume the mails were addressed to you personally?
as far as your father? if he has not renounced to his Italian citizenship? than you can acquire Italian citizenship as well.

Was your mother a natural born French citizen? If so, it will probably be relatively easy. Get certified copies of your mother's birth certificate, your parents' marriage certificate, and your birth certificate. Email the French consulate and ask them to mail you a citizenship application.
This will have no impact on your status as a US citizen. |

Under French law you are automatically French if one of your parents is French. In fact you specifically have to renounce your citizenship to no longer be considered French. If you want a French passport, just contact the embassy and they'll send you information on how to apply for one. |
