I'm applying for a full time position witht he Federal goverment. I was told to fill Form SF171, THey also mentioned that I could Attach aditional forms and sheets to the forms. However , no explanation is given about what exactly i should add. Do I add photocopies of my university Diplomas?Liscenses? Proof of Professional affiliations? What? Any tips on how i can ace this job?

Your resume. DD214 iv you have military service.

Double check the job description, most will say if they want additional attachments, like diplomas, licenses, etc. If you are claiming a veterans preference, then definitely your DD-214. If the job description does not specify any particular attachments, then like another responder said, attach your resume and be sure to list them all in there. Be sure you can produce them as well. It's been awhile since I filled out an SF-171, but I remember that you can list just about everything you've accomplished on it. The 171 along with your resume, should do it. Again, double check the job description and application procedure to be absolutely sure you send in everything that is asked for.

Read the vacancy announcement. Find the requirements and piratical factors that will be used to evaluate applicants.

You must demonstrate that you meet each requirement and factor, all of them, to be considered. Attach anything that will prove/demonstrate your qualifications. To make it easy index the attachments to match the requirements and factors in the same order they appear on the vacancy announcement.

Getting the application scored as qualified at OPM and forwarded to the hiring agency is 1/2 the battle. Often the person scoring the 171 has no practical knowledge of the job. That person can't figure out what you mean if you aren't crystal clear and well organized.

DO NOT INCLUDE SUPERFLUOUS INFORMATION.

Unless the job specifies that you need to have been an Eagle Scout there's no need to include that information on the application. Understand? It's extremely important that you do this right.
