The fact that you have a subclass 801 visa means that you are an Australian Permanent Resident and that visa allows you unrestricted entry to Australia for 5 years from the date the visa was validated. Provided you are within the 5 year validity period, you will be able to travel to and enter Australia on a new passport as long as you also carry and produce your current passport. If that is not practical for some reason, you can have your visa evidenced in your new passport by calling in person (preferably with both passports) to any Australian immigration office in Australia or overseas.
If you have already been resident in Australia for at least 2 years out of the last 5 since you obtained your 801 visa, you are probably eligible for a 5 year Resident Return visa which will in effect, reset the PR clock for another 5 years. If you are granted an RRV, you can have that evidenced in your new passport and will no longer need to carry the old one.
