If I Needed A New Passport NOW Due To An Emergency - Do They Check?

UK Passport, I'm a British Citizen. I am flying on Tuesday (or not) with my hubby and two kids. I have just tried to find my passport and it's disappeared. I only had it two weeks ago, and it was put back in the place where it was, but it's vanished. We have searched high and low, and it's literally gone. Is there anyway I can get a passport quicker than the 7 days (from my appointment on Tuesday) that it will take as it's lost and not expired (which they can do in a day)???? I thought about saying there was an emergency, but wonder if they'll check? Basically if I can't get one sooner, then my family will be flying without me, spending a week of our holiday without me, before I can go out there to join them for the last week.

ajal	so where you flying to...if its another european destination your cityhall might be able to give you some replacement document just for duration of your vacation I quess in some way its an emergency because you will go on holiday with your family and I quess the trip is already booked and paid for....generally yes it takes about 7-10 days to have a new one issued ,just explain it honestly at your cityhall,as its seen as LOST you might have to fill out some missing-report at local police-station but as it happened indoors,you might not OR you could say you lost it somewhereelse like outside your home...and sure they gotta do something.I just WONDER where it has gone....some familymember who doesnt want you included or who aint like the trip?

clf4th	You can get a passport on the same day, but you will have to go to the passport office, i know the main one being in liverpool, you have to pay a fee which i think is about Â£90 but it is possible

HE-MAN (i have the power)	go to your police station and report it missing and get a crime number, then take all the necessary documents down to your local passport office, mines is in Victoria london, they can be miles away depending on where you are , but you can get a new passport within hours at the passport office, and yes they will check, make sure you have a crime number, photo's signed and your relevant identification, and fill your application out properly, and also the money. sometimes they ask you to come back the next day, but it can be done.
