ladymoonlight	From my perspective its more to do with the fact that loads of immigrants places a great strain on this country's jobs, housing, health service etc. We are a small nation and do not have enough to go round for those already here so flooding the country with East European immigrants just makes things much worse. You obviously are lucky enough to know nothing about the poverty, unemployment, homelessness and misery faced by many decent British people.

Julia B	I don't have a problem with LEGAL immigrants, its the illegal ones that thumb their noses at our laws that irritate me. If we were to go to whatever country they are from and demanded the rights they are demanding here, we would be jailed or worse. I am the granddaughter of LEGAL immigrants and get the concept of wanting a better life. People just need to do it the right way.

OC	Carla the UK is a hell hole full of immigrants who hate british people and their way of life. You need to pull your head up out of your butt and recognize that the kind of people that you are inviting in, are the same people who gay bash, and do not respect the freedoms of others in society. You should be ashamed of yourself, you are losing everything.

mickyrisk	Did the questioner mention ILLEGAL immigrants once? The fact that many replies here concern themselves with illegality (which is outside the scope of this question) speaks volumes about the kind of idiot who thinks any immigrant must be a criminal. Screw 'em.

Atheists Rule	My wife is a Russian immigrant who came to the UK to escape her own country. I asked her why did she pick the UK, and the reason she gave is because the UK is a soft touch, has a 6 month visa for immigrants and can easily be fooled into believing any story - and even if they don't they do not have a reputation for immediate returns but go through a complex legal process which you can simple appeal against. She was offered benefits, free heath care and free legal aid. The lawyer who represented her (on legal aid) was a Somali who advised her all the tricks to remain in the country and how to claim benefits whilst working and get away with it. She is basically an honest person who admits to fleeing for the purely economic reasons of getting a better life but did draw the line at cheating the system - in fact she is an advocate for tightening immigration as she knows how it is being abused. The biggest danger she sees are not the immigrants, but the liberals who refuse to accept that there is a problem and not change the laws now. She knows it will continue to be abused and the numbers are growing fast.

Shirley S	Miss Carla, maybe you should get your facts straight. Illegal aliens actually DO hurt American citizens. They are draining our economy in that we must support them in schools, medical care, etc, and they are taking jobs that should go to Americans.

Maybe you should read your local papers and watch your local news bulletins.Then you may start to understand someone elses opinion. DAR	Gee whiz! You really have a chip on your shoulder! Not an essay, but I am not (as an American) against those here legally, but am against those who ignored our immigration quotas by the millions figuring we should pay for their children's education, anyhow. The funds are taken from our children's education budgets, and are disproportionately spent on those who can't speak English. That ruins the schools for our own children, and ruins our upwards mobility which is the basis for the American Dream. With our schools ruined, no wonder we are illiterate! Happy Holidays.

errie	I don't think you quite understand the problems that go with the issues you have mentioned. Come over and do as you please? I don't think that would work. We need to restrict the numbers or they will overrun this country. I would say you are very young as your grammar and spelling is that of someone who is very immature. Your views will change as you grow up and you have to pay taxes to support the immigrants who take advantage of our generous welfare state.

We don't have a problem with legal immigrants who come to our country the legal way, are productive members of society, abide by our laws and assimilate well with rest of our population. Illegal immigrants come into our country (ILLEGALLY, mind you) work at jobs Americans once did for a decent wage at, wages consistent with a third world, reap welfare benefits the taxpaying citizens fund through our Income Taxes, as well as reap benefits of free medical care, subsidized housing, and education to mention a few. The people who once worked those jobs, once made a decent wage. Due to illegal invaders taking those jobs, the wages have plummetted. Not only farm/agricultural jobs, but jobs in manufacturing, construction, landscaping, road crews, heavy machine operation, truck driving, to name a few. Those jobs wages have gone down immensely with the large influx of illegal immigrants. Citizens here are fed up with the injustice of this and manner in which our government allows it to continue. Those illegal immigrants had the audacity to march in protest, demanding rights they are NOT entitled to, flying our American flag upside-down BENEATH their filthy buzzard rag, calling Americans filthy names, claiming we 'stole' parts of our Southwest from them ( history confirms it is a lie), saying Americans are 'lazy', grabbing their crotches in front of our children, calling American women filthy names, and on and on and on. Instead of spouting off at the mouth why don't you educate yourself on the REAL issue. If you're not an American citizen, it's not your problem, so stfu. Sunny Boy	Carla please calm down. Please please let me explain. It is not the immigrants they are annoyed about being in the UK. It is about their behaviour and what the Government have done for these immigrants and neglected their own people of the UK. Look at all the hospitals being closed down, look at all the Post Offices being shut down, etc, It is because they need the extra money to give to the immigrants. There are a lot of people who have and are still are paying their Taxes in this country (UK) and to think they are not getting anything back for what they have paid and the Government are handing it out to the immigrants, it does annoy the BRITS. Also the immigrants should abide by the Laws of the UK and not by their own laws. It seems to be one law for us Brits and another for the immigrations. So do you think it is fair CARLA.
