How do I attain a catagory 1 HGV drivers licence?

mick49a	You need to be 21or over with a full car licence. contact the DVLA or go on their web site and download D1 medical form. Get a medical and get the form stamped. Send off for your provisional LGV licence. Then you need to pass the LGV theory test. (Get a cd rom of the test or you wont pass, and you will be wasting your money trying). As soon as get that you can go on an LGV driving course. you will have to do you class 2 test first (Ridged). Then do the class 1. Most LGV schools charge around Â£1,500 for the course with both tests charged at Â£89.00 each

tony m	Hello, First thing you got to do, is get the application form to apply for a licence to learn to drive a heavy goods vehicle, this can be effected for you by either your employer, or by applying to a heavy goods vehicle driving schools course. your health will have to be assessed by a Doctor, then you will have to take a theory test before you ever see inside a trucks cab. you cannot pearn to drive a heavy goods vehicle on a car licence, you will be resticted to the smaller sized trucks first, I think you have to start with 3 1/2 tonnes gross first then work up to 44 tonners from there, it is very expensive, but will pay you a good wage if you succeed, in all the different classes, so go to a reputable Driving school, and do exactly what it is they tell you to do, and don't forget, you have to be educated on the use of the Tachograph charts system, and of course Haz-pak, before you can haul that kind of a load. I did it the old fashioned way, and got through with no bother, the index on the vehicles I am allowed to drive is like an alphabet on the reverse side of my licence, but I am retired now, after 42 years of accident free driving. good luck to you young Sir in your endeavour to take my place on this countrys roads, I miss my job desperately, but I am happy to talk to you like this, just take my advice and take your time while you learn a job that will take you everywhere, and you will love it........Tony M

andrew416285	First of all bro if you not serving in Her Majestry's Armed Forces you have to be aged 21y.o.+ . You must hold a Cat. 3 HGV or an un-endorsed PCV. Afford the course (Â£2 785). Hold a valid Doctors' Cerificate. And take a Advanced Theory Test, your call- all the best!!

eighteen_wheels_4_flat_tyres	Hi I think you have to pass your class2 first now as you can't go straight into class 1 your best bet is to contact a local HGV / LGV driving school and they'll put you right. I would think about it carefully though cos i been doing the job for a long time and its very stressful let alone disruptive to your home life!

im2jaded04	your need lessons in a hgv before the test, the test itself don't come cheap in England its two and half grand up, get in with a company willing to pay it and take you on after
