Always call the police whenever there is an accident even a minor fender bender. We got into an accident in Brooklyn, we slide into the first car in the rain, our car got the worst of the damage and we got sued by the other driver for $15,000. We did not call the police but we did exchange info. There are alot of dishonest people out there who think they won the lotto whenever their is an accident. |

First, make sure you and your passengers are safe and in no need of medical attention. Second, make sure the driver of the other vehicle(s) and their passengers are safe. Then call "911" or the police if you have the #, and report the accident, turn the vehicle flashers on (if operable) to warn other drivers to be cautious, if there is a posted sign to remove wrecked vehicles from the lanes, if the vehicles are operable, then move them, wait for the police to arrive to take the report, call your insurance company to report the accident.
First and foremost would be to check the safety of the people involved, and call an ambulance if needed. Making sure everyone is not injured and in need of medical attention is far more important than admitting fault. |
