yes it is a crime. In GA it is a misdemeanor, punishable by not more than 12 months in confinement per count.
Also understand once the police believe you to be a liar, it will be hard to convience them as to what really happened next time you need them. |

yes it is very illegal and most police departments are very hard on people that do so because of the time and money that you had them waste by investigating the complaint. You are pretty much filing a false police report and that is bad news |

Yes. On at LEAST two fronts. First, filing a false report. Second, stolen money is usually replaced with insurance money, and that's insurance fraud. There's probably a few other charges they can stick on there, too. |

Yes, at the very least it is considered "Filing a False Police Report" and what you're describing sounds like something a DA could turn into "Fraud" charges.
Filing false reports is taken very seriously by the police and fraud will often come with jail time.
Don't be stupid enough to try it. |
