Caught Shoplifting and details taken by police?

Got caught shoplifting and store banned me from store and have to pay the store £140. The police were called and police officer just took my details at the store and let me go, i didn't have to go to police station. As This was the first time (won't happen again) and he said it will not affect my job applications and was just a slap on the wrist. As he took my details, (Name, Address, DOB, Driving Licence Number) Will a note of this go on my record? Will i have a criminal record? Will it affect me if i apply for jobs for example, with the police force, or a solicitors firm? Any help from police officers currently would be great. Thanks Also will this appear on a CRB check or if i Pay the £10 to see any details held on me, will it appear on that? thanks He said something about a note that the police would be able to see if i was ever pulled up for anything.... But would i have to disclose this to say solicitors regulation authority if i wanted to become a solicitor and would the find it when they come to do a police check? i am over 18 by the way... thanks

No, this won't show up on a CRB check either. You would have to have been taken to the police station or reported for the offence at the time to have your criminal record created (assuming you don't already have one!!) But as above, LEARN THE LESSON !!

This wont be a criminal record or youd have gone to the police station and gone through a routine of being photographed, fingerprinted, held in cells etc etc it wont even show on a CRB check, go down and pay the £10 just to make sure if you want, but be warned by this and dont do it again

Its unlikely that it'll go on an official record. More likely that it'll be noted in the Police Database, so that if you do get caught again, they can see that you've already had a warning for shoplifting and they'll choose a more appropriate way of dealing with you. Its also handy for the police to have the names, address and mobile numbers of anyone involved in crime, as these details can often be linked to other, more serious crimes. So if you use your mobile phone to call a victim or suspect before a crime occurs around them, police will be able to get hold of your number, and find out who you are and that you've been shop lifting before. Its unlikely that that will ever happen though, so I wouldn't worry about it, just behave in future! Kind regards, Clever. x

Well a "warning" in Pa means you did not get cited or arrested. If they put your "warning" in their files (computer) it stays there forever. It can be looked up anytime by that department, regardless if you were a minor at the time or not. If say I gave you a warning when you were 15 for something and when you were 35 I (or any member of my department) gave you a speeding ticket we would see that "warning" attached to your name when we entered your speeding ticket in our computer. If in fact we put the warning in our system. However that "warning" is only in that police department's records and no one else's. It is not like someone in another city, county or state would be able to look it up. Also "juvenile" records can not be released without a court order. So its not like someone can go spouting off 20 years from now that they gave you a warning for something when you were a minor. However if you are over 18 but under 21 you are not a juvenile. So the information is much more available to others. But as I said a warning is just that so you will not have a "record". No one would find out, or really care, you got a "warning" later on. Except as I said before the police where it happened, if they actually entered it in their computer. With a warning I usually never enter it, I say usually.
