LawDawg	ABSOLUTELY! Pay careful attention to where the "Pandora's Box" of criminal activity is taking place now. It is in the cities with the strictest gun control, like Washington, D.C. It is in the schools where no guns are allowed. It is in the nations such as Great Britain where guns have been severely restricted, even by police. It doesn't take a genius to figure out that unarmed citizens make for easy prey to criminals. But sadly some people can't seem to see the forest because of all the trees in the way. As the old saying goes "There is none so blind as he who WILL NOT see."

Pretty much anyone can buy a gun (the background checks for criminal history and mental illness are a complete joke), and in many states, anyone who has a gun can carry it in public. And look at the crime rate in the US. Twice as high as just about any other industrialized country.

Destrier	Founding fathers thought so. Millions of firearms owners everyday by their silence' (not shooting anyone) affirm that pandora's box is still closed. We cannot gain protection "from" criminals by taking protection from law abiding citizens.

TG79	here is a scenario....YOU are a robber. There are two gas stations that you could rob....you know that Gas Station attendant 1 is armed and that the other one is not....Which one do you rob??? Just like the wolves single out the weakest sheep so does the criminal aspect of society....

Kavya magical	No its not a good idea for every citizen to be able to carry guns.It will only enhance campus rampages. It would then become more of a revenge instrument than a protection instrument,for which it should be actually used.

spydergt488	The way I see it, a criminal is going to carry a gun whether or not it's legal, but making it legal for law-abiding citizens to carry guns would, as was stated above, make the crimial think twice before doing something stupid. A criminal is going to break the law anyway, and there will always be consequences for any illegal shootings that happen. So letting citizens own guns would just mean that the criminal would have to think twice before deciding to try to rob a bank with his pistol, while having fifteen different gun barrells pointed at the back of his head.

Penny Lane	The right to bear arms! That is was the NRA has been fighting for, but I don't think it will ever happen (not like it used to back in the day) because people aren't reliable and trustworthy anymore!

Al	I think if every person was allowed to carry a weapon for defence, most criminals would think twice before committing a crime, yeah there's always going to be a wako out there who goes off the deep end, but in general, I think there would be next to no crime.

Call Me Bwana	I believe every law-abiding citizen of sound mind should be allowed to carry a concealed weapon if that is their wont. I don't have a problem with the government requiring a licensing fee for it, nor do I object to government requiring taking a gun safety class before issuing the license. And it hasn't opened Pandora's Box anywhere a reasonable CCW law was instituted. Here in Michigan, the opponents of the CCW law were fearmongering about it becoming like the Wild West with shootouts on every corner. Not only didn't it happen, crime has actually gone down. And in contrast, in England and Australia, where they outlawed guns entirely, gun crime has skyrocketed. Imagine that!
