willowbee	The Police priorise their calls according to the risk. If the guy was still there you have to tell them that and that you are in a very real and very immediate danger of harm. If they guy has gone and you are not in immediate risk, you call gets a lower priority.

p.xx	hi. i personally wouldnt call the police. if you can ,ignore this man, but keep a diary of events. when he is sober maybe ,you and your neighbour could ask him in for a cup of tea and try explaining that you do not want to involve the police/council but his behaviour is unacceptable. and see what his reaction is, he might be remorseful. if he isnt then at least you have tried to reason with him...i know alot of people have said to call the police-but i feel this will make things worse. (if they do turn up.) you have to live next to this person.... you dont want to make things worse than they are already... hope it goes ok.

yvemaria1937	That is really not on,have you got through to your Local Police Station? if so don't bother with them just dial 999 and ask the operator to put you through to your Main Constabulary,IE if you are in London area ask for Scotland Yard, otherwise ask for whatever your Constabulary is and tell them how many times you have tried to get the Local Police to attend the incident. Hopefully one of their Controllers will put out an all Cars message and you will get an Area Car to you.

Petey	Firstly, my sympathies. I'm in a similar situation so my heart goes out to you as I know how destructive neighbourly abuse can be. I suggest that you visit, in person, your local Police station and describe the pattern of events that you have suffered and ask them to justify why they took so long to send someone to your home after you reported the incident. Ask for your visit to be logged and for your neighbourhood police team to be made aware of the ongoing situation so that if a future incident arises they attend more promptly. Make sure you describe the effect that the incident had upon you and the importance of future incidents being taken seriously. Get in touch with your local authority's anti-social behaviour team, or if they don't have a specific one, seek advice from your local councillor on what services can be offered. Get your ward councillor aware of the problem and onto your side and providing advice and information to you. Local authority environmental health (noise nuisance) teams quite frequently operate through to around 4am in metropolitan areas and can be very useful in witnessing abusive events and in making referals within the local authority towards a resolution. Also, if you are eligible for legal aid, go talk with a specialist member of the legal profession who works as part of the community legal service (it should be free) to seek possible remedies via the judifical system. If you're not eligible for legal aid then talk with the citizens advice bureau, who may well be able to refer you to a local solicitor who has drop-in arrangements for a short period without charge (Admittedly, that's something that's not available consistently across the country). If the property is rented, contact the landlord, and make sure you keep a record of events that happen and how they make you feel as in the event that court action is taken, this will be very important to have to hand. Good luck, and know that my thoughts are with you in what sounds like a very difficult situation.

rinehartstacy	DO NOT OPEN THE DOOR! Do you have a dog? And, no I don't mean a poodle, either! If not, stay in the house an keep bugging the crap out of them until they hurry their ass up and get there. GET A LARGE DOG! I HIGHLY recommend a German Shepard. I have one and she is wonderful. They are fierce, but loyal, great with kids, and very easy to train. They are the favored dog for any kind of K-9 work over here because of their intelligence. They have a wonderful way of tearing the ass out of the intruder's pants!

red-k	I live in the u.s. and for the most part, the police answer to these type of calls. if they don't, I suggest that you confront this person when he is sober! if this doesn't work you have to talk to this person along with one of your friends or neighbors. where there are numbers there is power. this is all taking into account that the police don't respond to your call. good luck!

smiler	The only way to get the police is this: The next time you ring them up tell them that he has entered your flat( you opened the door to politely tell him to leave you alone).If the police don't turn up, ring them again after 15 minutes and tell them not to bother as you think you have killed him. Bet your life they will be around like a shot.!!!!!!!!

michael m	You don't deserve to live like that. Confront him without being violent, but have your witnesses there. There may be an escalation as a result, but it and the consequences will be on HIM, and that may lead to some more serious charge that he then will have to answer for. Get him in trouble. Here in the States, we have laws called "simple assault", which is verbal, threatening abuse. Then when the police DO come, there'll be more against him. If he's drunk, he's vulnerable, because it's not an excuse. Stand up for yourself and your good neighbors. I do.

SmartOne	Call them back again, tell them this is serious. The charges on the guy would be tresspassing and disturbing the peace.

super_star	I take it you are calling the local police station rather than 999? Next time he starts booting your door, don't hang about, ring 999 and say, somebody is trying to kick my door down. They will hear him booting the door and shouting and the police will arrive, in minutes. Let us know if this method works.

Pedro	Keep a record of times, dates, words spoken or shouted, also keep a record of time and dates of when you notified the police when you have enough evidence take it to your local council office or housing association office that's if you rent your property. If you own your property i suppose you take to the main council office for your district. Eventually they will either serve him with an ASBO or apply to the courts for an eviction notice.

paulburns84	It's best not to confront him if he's drunk. If you got into a fight he could end up charging you with assault. My advice would be to get through the night and go to the police station first thing in the morning to report your neighbour.
