Restraining order laws in Riverside Cty, Ca.?

How does a person who had their restraining order violated get the police to respond to the court order? Does the police dept. have to have the order at the station before they can apprehend the violator?
Please help me, this person has broken the order with witnesses verifying this and the police will do nothing.

Depending on the type of court order and the nature of the violation, you might not. Technical or minor violations of a lot of court orders are not normally addressed through law enforcement - the plaintiff is often referred back to court on their own, just like when they got the order in the first place.
No, they don't have to have a copy of the order to enforce it, but they do have to verify it exists. That's normally not a difficult thing to do at all.
It doesn't sound like the police will do nothing - it sounds like the police haven't done what you want. Without knowing more about the type of order and the nature of the violation, I can't tell you any more than that. You're welcome to email if you like. |

Keep a copy of the restraining order with you. If it is violated, call the police immediately and show the officer a copy of the order. That should be sufficient to get the person arrested.
The hard part about enforcing restraining orders is you need to do it while they are being violated. You can't go to the police station after the fact and ask them to go out and arrest someone. |
