Speeding fine 14 days?

Hi my husband got flashed speeding on the 31st of august and his Notice of intended prosecution was dated the 16th of september. He believes that there is a time frame of 14 days which the police have to contact you. If this is the case and they'd left it 16 days what can he do about it? please help Thanks in advance also my husband is not the registered keeper of the vehicle, it belongs to his work. The NIP was addressed and sent to his workplace and work then passed the letter onto him, they cant do this can they as its not in his name?

If this is in the U.K.,the company HAS to inform the police who was driving the vehicle, otherwise their in big trouble. The driver NOT the company is responsible ,for the offence. This also applies to renta cars, and utility vehicles (gas, water, electric) As regards the time frame, you can try it but theres loads of myths about this,so you would need legal advice to be sure. Please note ALL offences not just speeding, are the responsability of the driver .

I got a speeding ticket, knew I hadn't been speeding. I wouldn't pay the fine and the police wouldn't show me the evidence until I went to court. Right then, see you in court. Turned out the police or whoever had doctored the gatsometer reading and written the speed very carefully in very neat handwriting to make it look as it was the actual gatsometer reading. You had to use a magnifying glass to see it, otherwise nobody would have noticed. Most people I expect, wouldn’t have used a magnifying glass and having seen a reading from a machine would have just accepted it and paid the fine.

If your husband is the registered keeper of the car then The NIP must be served on the driver or registered keeper within 14 days of the offence otherwise the offence cannot proceed at court. If he is not the keeper then the Police have 28 days to serve the notice. This gives them time to contact the keeper and request details of the driver. Return the ticket to them and explain that it was not sent within the time limit.
