What are you likely to 'get' if you are being charged with two cases of battery & threatening behaviour?

My friend recently got attacked whilst out for the night in our local town. She is a 32 year old single mother and was out celebrating her birthday with myself my husband and a few close friends.
Whilst waiting for our lift to turn up my friend, another friend and myself were approched by a group of teenage lads and a girl all aged between 17 & 19 years old they started shouting about claiming they knew our male friend who was present but they clearly didn't. They started to throw punches at our male friend and two of the males and a female actually started to also hit my female friend as well.
They were later arrested and four of the youths have been taken to court and tried. two of the males are being tried with two cases of battery and 'using threatening abusive or insultng words or behaviour with intent to cause fear of or to provoke violence.' the other female and male are being tried for one case of battery and the above quotation too.
what, in anyones experienced opinion, should these youths 'get'? They were taken to court and they claimed they were not guilty so the court was adjourned, does this hold well in their favour etc?

Without sight of the statements and possible cctv footage it is difficult to say what the possible outcome could be.
The lawyers will look to see if bad character can be brought into play against the defendants (previous similar offences) but equally the defence will look at victims and witness' for the same!
I would never try to guess an outcome based on the information you have supplied, but if found guilty and most definately with previous similar offences they could look at custodial sentences. It would depend on injuries sustained etc. So I can't be more specific, I would hazard a guess at community punishment |

They should be sent down for a spell. But will probably get a slap on the wrist and a visit from some limp liberal social worker to help with their problems. Christ it makes me sick. |
