What is it that Police do to make people turn against Police Officers?

D squared	Simple: The Police do their jobs. That's all.

Deviant_Art	It's the fact that, like almost everyone in the world, they already have a decision on people based on what they have learned growing up, whether they know the people they have made the decision about or not. That may sound complicated, let me give an example. Many older people think teenagers are no good scum and are trouble. (Maybe not to that extreme, but you get my point.) The only difference is, as cops, they have the power to unjustly do something about it. For instance, I was at the mall with a couple of my friends and we were just wakin around having a good time. We notice that the mall cop has been following us around the entire time we'd been there. Suddenly, my friends go out to the car and I stay in the mall and wait. The cop suddenly walks up to me and says "I think it's about time you kids left." And I explain to him we haven't been doing anything and he goes on and on about how we have been being loud. I point out "We have been being no louder than anyone else. Maybe you've only heard us because you've been harrassing us for the past hour." And so on. So it's cops like that who have an automatic discrimination towards people that give other cops a bad name. The police force doesn't do a good enough job of hiring un-biased police men. That, and people just like the feeling of freedom, and they feel the cops threaten that.

LeSha	Some officers are total @$$'s because they're stressed, pissed, pms, etc. not all of them are bad i've met alot of really nice officers that are pretty cool but some of them just come across wrong after dealing with dangerous criminals all day

Pam H	Some of them are bossy, arrogant, control freaks. They give all officers a bad name.

JR	Some police officers actually do their jobs and are still kind to other people, most of them let their power get to their heads and they think they can do anything they wish to you, I'm not saying all police are bad but it is them few that push their power too far that make the rest of them look bad.

Kimberly	I think it is because so many abuse their power and act unfair towards people at times. I also think that putting a speed limit at 25 or 35 on a main road then hiding behind a building and writing tickets right and left makes people mad. It is a money trap not a safe or not safe thing. Things like that just rub people the wrong way. Anyway, I know that all police officers are not bad. I am glad that we have many good ones who are trying to protect and keep people safe.

US soldier	Then hey will wish they where there when they get rob, raped or some one is killed. People just don't like getting caught and make excuses for everything in life. to your question their doing their job, people cant accept that they got caught and now have to pay the fine or jail time. People say race is a factor but in reality there make a excuse and trying everything to get out of the trouble there in.

Kenny W	if you ever have a disagreement with one you will find out .the have a badge and a gun can can do pretty much whatever they want. you have to prove innocents not the other way around ....TRUST ME!

pyropossumkitty	I used to hate every single one of them, and made some pretty specific death threats against them. My attitude towards them has changed to where I respect the majority of them becuase they have treated me with respect. That said, I still hate traffic cops, but the thing that I think turns people against them is when they are abusive with their authority, when they are physically abusive without needing to be, and when they actually kill people without good reason, and get away with it. They have no consequences for their actions.

John	The rotten cops, twist the truth in order to make a collar/case. They lie, in order to meet a quota.....

Lawrence Louis	Some people detest law enforcement officials because the system in which law enforcement officials have to abide by causes them to become more of something akin to bureacrats than a person that is out there to serve and protect. Think about how much of law enforcement is devoted to controlling traffic, and writing tickets for minor offenses. Also ponder how much of law enforcement is concentrated on arresting innocous drug users of marajuana. All of these resources could be devoted to more substantive endeavors like preventing murders, rapes and theft. I donâ€™t blame the law enforcement individual for his bad rap. I blame the system that enfeebles his ability to do what he was trained to do.

creamsoda005	I really don't have anything against police officers, but a lot of them abuse their powers. Or at the least, they'll get really smartass with you and continue to say rude things for no reason just because they are "the law" and you are not. I got pulled over recently and the officer was like...whats wrong sweety? you got a hot date tonight?? (I had just gotten off work, obviously office attire.) He continued, so what are you and your little boyfriend going to do? Although I told him I was trying to get home to do homework. He went on and on, and I'm like, listen, give me a ticket or don't. It's that simple!
