Why are officers and bounty hunters that do there job going to jail?

An illegal imagrent can come over here and not even get deported back to there country but if i boarder patrol officer that is doing their job goes to jail if they have to shoot an imagrent to protect themselves. Duane Chapman, aka the dog, is looking at prison time for going into mexico and capturing lester; a man charged with 86 counts of rape, that ran after making bail; and bringing him back to the us to serve his time. what is wrong with that picture?

bountyhunters are punks that did not make it as a real pig, because of some drug problem they may have |

A border patrol officer who is doing his job does not go to jail for shooting an immigrant if what he did was within the law. I am not losing any sleep over the gains and losses of bounty hunters. I don't think it is an honorable profession. That is the job of the police who--we hope--are responsible in their actions. |

Mexico is a different Country and he had no authority there.
That would be like the Iranian Secret Police kidnapping offenders in the US.
As for the shooting, watch the film. That's right, the Border Patrol Agent shot a kneeling Illegal in view of probably the only camera on the border that works.
I live on the border, people haven't a clue what is going on here. Mexican Drug Gangs armed with AK47s control the border, while Bush is sending Border Patrol Agents to Iraq.
Most of the Police chiefs onthe Mexican side have been killed. In one night 20 people died in a shootout including 5 Mexican Police Officers. The gangs may come from Mexico but the weapons are smuggled into Mexico from the US. |

For some reason the Mexicans are against vigilantes going into their country and taking people against their will. Why might people dislike vigilantes? Sorry for the sarcasm, but like you said thelaw should be followed.
You yourself put up a great reason why we should not encourage it. A border patrol officer can shoot people only in certain situations. Our law enforcement officers must go through rigourous training - especially in the use of force and the detention of otherwise free men.
Like the answerer above said - "the Dog" could have contacted Mexican authorities - but then he would not have received the bounty would he? He knew the law of the country he was going to. But more seriously, he knew he had been arrested in Mexico and that he was only out on "bail", he like the people he chases purposefully ignored their legal obligations. |

First of all bounty hunting is illegal in Mexico. Second, Chapman also detained , for several hours, the suspect's girlfriend. Chapman also fled bail...just like the people he picks up. |

The law is the law and clearly states that we are not to cross over into other countries and bring wanted people back. It is considered kidnapping and is a crime punishable by law. We do not have the rights or jurisdiction inside other countries.
If that was the case then anyone from another country could say you done something illegal in their country and haul you off to where ever they choose without any US involvement.
I'm afraid alot of us would come up missing when I think about it. |

No matter what one's personal perspective about law enforcement and immigration issues, I think everyone can agree that there is institutional hypocrisy and systemic incompetence in the way our government doles out "justice". You have to be curious about cases where officers and other government agents are arrested and imprisoned by their own employer for, as they truly are, doing their job. Either the border should be hermetically sealed and walled, or immigrants should be allowed to come here freely - but to have a mixture of left-wing and right-wing policies on these issues destroys the chances of any definitive progress being made. |

no one is above the laws all dog had to do was call the mexican police or whatever they are called and tell them hey he is wanted in the US for rape and he needs to be brought over here. They would of done it. It happens all the time. or he could of got permission to go get him.
but my point is no one is above the law not even the illegals and they do deport them.
their was a story about a guy who got caught bc he was in an accident and they deported him and he came right back and they keep deporting him. so until the borders get closed or get more people to watch them we have no control even if we deport them. |

Amen to that! We need to apply more political pressure to our elected officials to release the wrongly-convicted border patrol patriots. |

These things are really starting to annoy me. Sure this is a great way to show how hardcore of a "Dog" you are but if you really want to help it go do it where it counts and save us all the trouble of hearing of this two bit crime profiteer. |

I agree, our government needs to put Mexico in its place. By Dog capturing Luster, he saved many Mexican women from the same fate as well. But I guess that is all politics. People need to realize not everyone coming over our border is the humble migrant immigrant looking for a new life. A lot of Mexico's undesirables are coming too.
Edit: I know Dog broke some laws in getting Luster, who was a serial rapist. But, Mexico has no right to go to lengths to get him jailed. Lets see, they are being over run by the drug cartels, experiencing a brain drain with most of their young people coming to the US, rising pollution, and you are telling me the Mexican government's first priority should be to punish Dog because, yes he did break some laws? This is coming from the same Mexican government that is so corrupt they cannot enforce any of their own laws?? He saved many women and their families the grief and anguish of being raped by this scumbag. Sometimes you have to do what you have to do. |
