Will a DVO (Domestic Violence Order) show up on a background check?

My son was given a DVO (Domestic Violence Order and I was wondering what type of offence this is classed as? He is looking at joining the army and I was wondering if this will affect his chances. Will it show up on a background check? Just so everyone knows - this is in Queensland Australia

?	I haven't been in since 2002. I enlisted into the Army and the USMC (5 years apart) When I went in domestic violence offenders were not allowed to enlist whatsoever. They don't want people that could be considered volatile. They are going to put a weapon in his hand.

Schtupa	It will show up on the background check. More and more the American military is becoming wary of recruits with legal issues-particularly ones implying violence. At one time the Army, and to a lesser extent the Marine Corp, was the dumping grounds for county and municipal judges. A young man facing a relatively minor offense in court was given the opportunity to do time in jail, or in the military. The presumption was that this particular even was mostly the result of high spirits, high hormones, and low self-control because of immaturity; and that therefor a tour in the military would help because they would make the young man "straighten up," and grow up to be big and strong and law abiding. Now, perhaps ironically, the fighting branches recognize that violent tendencies are not particularly desirable in their recruits.
