Will u get arrested for confessing to a random crime?

What if I say I killed someone (in my homecountry for example) and provide no evidence except my confession?

in the uk you are innocent til proved guilty the prosecution proves your guilt by providing evidence ie make evident-show clearly and there is nothing more evident and clear than a confession its the only evidence they need .of cause if you changed your mind you could always recant and say you didn't do it only problem with that is which statement they believe
surely your mum told you about the boy who called wolf |

Yes you can be charged with falsely filing a report |

Maybe, but then when they find out you're being an idiot, they might just arrest charge and imprison you for wasting police time, or maybe have you sectioned under the mental health act for as long as it takes you to prove you're not mad (easier said than done.)
If you want to see the inside of a cell, attend an open day. That way you can leave when the novelty wears off. |

I actually watched a show today about a man who was intoxicated and had confessed to a murder, but later recanted. Even though there was absolutely no physical evidence and he had an airtight alibi when the murder occurred, the jury still found him guilty and sentenced him to 38 years behind bars.
So yes |

You can be arrested for confessing to any felony. However, in order to be prosecuted for that crime additional evidence or witnesses must be produced in court.
You mention your "home country". You cannot be prosecuted in the US for a crime committed in another country, however law enforcement could easily detain you and turn you over to the country where the crime occurred so that they could investigate, and then prosecution depends on the laws of that country, which can be pretty scary.
Ohh - don't forget the little "False report to law enforcement" law. If no other evidence surfaces or you recant your statement, you can be put in jail for that little gem! |

Well, probably. But if they find you didn't then they'd probably thing you were insane for trying to confess for nothing.. |

Yes. Of course!
But if finding no evidence then you'll probably be let go.........
I recommend you don't do it. |

you would be taken in for questioning and they wouldn't let you out until there's evidence you didn't. |
