i read on the city of austin website that I would have to enter the police force? there has got to be an easier way! are there not other sources out there that I could help? and how come yahoo answers do not have a career / employment category??????????????????

fr_chuck	First to work in cyber crimes you will need to be a master at computers, There is even certification in forsenic computer tech. Beyond that you will need to contact the department directly and put in an application, a citylike Austin will have a application process that will require a written test to be put on a list of applicants.

orangemike	This is a police job. Nobody gets to be a detective without proving themselves as a police officer first. That's the way it works; there is no way around it. Law enforcement officers will hire technicians who are not LEOs; but NOBODY gets to be a detective without proving themselves in the field first as an ordinary police officer.

Thom Thumb	That is a cop. If you want to be a cop, you're going to have to go to the Police Academy. Go talk to the Austin Police Dept.
