No, BUT, the problem lies in being able to find help in establishing these rights and freedoms, which have been adopted by the Federal and Provincial Government and the people of Canada, when they are being violated. For example, discrimination and violence is rampant in the school system ... from elementary school right on up. And, unless you have money to hire a personal lawyer, good luck getting any help, at least during any significant time period. We've been dealing with the issue since 2001, and the situation is worse now (November 3, 2009) than it was in 2001. Hopefully it will be addressed BEFORE he finishes high school (June 2014) ... but it's doubtful, especially after over 8 years of the same empty promises.
Things may be different from Province to Province. In my opinion, if you care about your family, don't live in New Brunswick. What they say and what is in writing IS NOT what happens in actuality.
So, NO, Canada doesn't have too many rights and freedoms, at least in "true-to-life" instances. |
