How can I fight a ticket for tinted windows?

I live in California and got a fix it ticket for my two front windows being tinted. I want to keep my windows tinted, so I was planning on getting a note from the eye doctor to say that my eyes are very sensitive to the light. Is that a good excuse or has anyone got out of a ticket with a better excuse?

I have a friend who was going through that same thing with getting tickets for the tinting. His eye doctor refused to write him a note since he gets audited. Just remove the tinting and get some good sunglasses. "I fought the law and the law won."

If the officer failed to take a light test, which is easy and probably was done, then all you have to do is go to court and say "Jee judge, I don't see any evidence of a problem here" and it'll get thrown out. If he did, you must remove the tint. You may tint the windows, provided it does not prevent more than 29% of the light to pass through. It cannot be colored, such as red. It may not be any more reflective than the actual window (so none). Now, fixit tickets are usually just a sworn affidavit that you've completed the work. It doesn't require that you pay anything, nor do they require proof. If you don't mind taking the chance, you can just ignore it and sign off on it. This, of course, may make your life worse if they get you again. They probably will eventually. Just de-tint, and re-tint with the 29% stuff.

You get a copy of the vehicle code and pay a labratory to test your windows and certify that they are in compliance with the code. However - tint on the front windshield is illegal in all 50 states. If you take that note to the judge he will simply say one word: "sunglasses." Grow up and remove the tint.

No it is not, just take the tint off or get used to forking your pay checks over to the state.
