If an ambulance is on its way to save someone, and it runs someone over, should it stop to help them?

Or does it have to go to the original call to stop anyone queue jumping?

This happened to me. Yesterday a bloody pesky ambulance ran me over when I was on my way to visit my nan (she had funny coloured boxers on). The bloody driver didnt stop or even slow down. On my way back from my nans i got run over again by a rogue ambulance. Once again the driver never stopped. I hope that it was the same driver or my town could have a real problem!

It has a duty just like everyone else to stop and help as it is in law.

Thye ambulance would have to stop otherwise they would be leaving the scene of an accident which is a criminal offence. No doubt they would tend to the casualty and another ambulance would be sent to the original call.

The ambulance & driver are required to stop and remain at the scene of the accident; otherwise, the driver would be charged with leaving the scene of a personal injury accident. As long as they are there, they might as well provide assistance to the accident victim while they are waiting for another ambulance to transport the victim to a hospital. This means that yet another ambulance would have to be dispatched on the call that the original ambulance was responding to.

No, it bundles the victim into the back, and tells him we will get to you later, because we have a prior appointment. If they are on a double yellow line, they may pick up a parking ticket as well.

i think they stop, assess who is in the worse situation, the person they ran over or the person they were called for, and call back up to the one who least needs urgent attention....

Mikey Mouse
I would have call for help too if I'm not sure what to do. (lol)

Ghost Who Walks
Get both casualities in the Ambulance and rush to Hospital.

The Wiz
It all depends on the seriousness of the individual who was runned over vs the individual inside. Usually they call on a second ambulance & police, etc. One of the EMS may stay behind helping until 2nd arrives. If the person runned over was killed then they'd probably just go on to their destination after calling police.

I don't know really but I suppose it would be the dispatcher's call. He or she would know what units they have available and how far from the action.

Jeff
it has to stop at an accident that it caused
