if somebody refuses probation, I know they get jail time. But how does that work?
Is it like, if you had 2 years probation and refused it, you would get 2 years in jail?

You can't refuse probation. That means you're not in jail, only life restrictions (like no drug use or associations with ex-criminals, etc.)
You're confusing it with something like, not paying a fine imposed by the court, etc. With that, yes, jail time can be issued in lieu of payment, and the length of time is imposed by the judge. It could be anything. |
