If the US cannot even figure out where Madoff stashed $50 billion what can the do against terrorists?

So far only $1 billion has been recovered. There are claims for another $10 billion. But he stole $50 billion. Where is it? Is it in Israel? If the US cannot even figure out where this two bit sheyster stashed his dough, how can they even pretend to be fighting terrorism? The US government has invested billionsin the high level surveillance. They are making the lives of ordinary citizens a real pain with their intrusions. Yet somehow Madoff manages to slip $50 billion under the radar of this great US government intelligence apparatus. Has he corrupted the politicians? Or it the US allowing this one to pass because most of the money went to Israel?

J M	Most of the people he ripped off were his own kind. I think the money isn't in israel it's just gone. What the big thing that bothers me is that all the people that helped him do it are still free. How can one man do that kind of fraud? He can't and there's others out there that get a free pass. I love the double standard.

John S	the 50 billion was paid off to investors' as returns and investors' taking out money from madoff securities. like all pyramid schemes, there wasn't enough money being put in to pay off the rest of investors' returns and withdraws. madoff pretty much gave up when he confessed that madoff securities was insolvent
