Is this a good deal?

Our fence blew down at the start of the year and we have not had the money to get it fixed. I was chatting to the neighbour about it and he has offered to put us up a new fence. He has also offered to get the panels and concrete posts (14 panels and posts) for this he has said the panels and posts will cost £230.00 and he and his friend will put them up in one day, at a labour cost of £200.00. Are we being ripped off by him? Would it be cheaper to get the panels and posts ourselves then pay someone to put them up? We are young and don't know if we should get some quotes to see if we can get it done cheaper by a professional? Thanks in advance for your opinions!

It's is a good deal, but if you don't have the money to pay for new fence why are you going to stump out and extra amount on labour when you can do it your self thus saving 200??????

Is it definitely your fence to mend? If it is a shared responsibility, is it a 50/50 split? It might be worthwhile finding that out first by looking at your title deeds, and checking to see if there are any specific covenants attached regarding the fence.

Its a very good deal, hes doing you a favour. I've seen fencers charge double.

I think it's a great deal. But maybe you can ring around just in case. Check gumtree or loot where there are people offering cheap labour. However you don;t know if you can trust them but your neigbors frind might be a lil more trustworthy. I think if he is your neighbor and lives near you he might not be ripping you off but just being friendly.

It sounds like a good deal! You could always help out as well, to cut down on labour costs!?!

That is a very good deal! it cost us £800 to have our garden fenced.

I had 12 panels fitted last year - concrete posts, concrete gravel boards - £600. This was the cheapest of three quotes. His price sounds good to me.
