I am wondering if I can press charges against my 10-year-old sons school for wetting his pants. I mean a teacher can't tell him no. And what's he supposed to do, go in his pants that I bought??? I don't think so. He also could have gotten some kind of infection. I'm furious right now!!! What 5th grade teacher doesn't let a kid go to the bathroom???

Check with your son's doctor to see if he has any physical problem that might make him unable to hold his urine, or if he is taking medication that can increase the need to go. I think you have a case against the teacher. For not letting him go when he needed to and for the embarrassment he had to face after he wet his pants in front of his classmates. |

Actually, I think you can. Either this or directly confront the school's administration or school bored and demand for a written apology or something, its really up to you. Teachers can't refuse a child to go to the bathroom unless they had a legitimate reason, and like you said, he could have gotten an infection or something. There is a difference between holding it and wetting pants, and one can lead to serious consequences to the teacher. |

I'm in grade 8 and there was a horrible teacher at my old school who didn't let you go and one of my friends went in her pants because of that. It's just horrible how they try and manipulate children's urinary behaviours. Although, if they have a policy which is only in place for the first section of class (ie. just after lunch, etc.) then maybe you shouldn't press charges. |

Hold up there. Can't sue over everything and it doesn't sound like you've even gotten all the information. Maybe he was just anxious about something. No, you cannot sue the school. |
