hi, i was in civil court the other day and asked for an appeal because the judge sentenced me to 60 days rehab Due to Marchman Act. my public attorney said he would talk to me outside the court room not infront of the judge where he told me i would need to hire a lawyer for an appeal what should i do? ( i cannot afford to hire a lawyer )
only drug i tested positive for is marijuana

Civil court, so this wasn't you actually being charged in criminal court?
But here's the thing: The Marchman Act is for people who need substance abuse help. You tested positive for a drug. Even if it is "just" marijuana, it is a drug.
There's absolutely no reason to appeal this issue. You lose, as the evidence all points against you. Appealing this would be a complete waste of money. Considering the fact that you received a public defender, you're obviously not doing very well financially. Appealing this issue would be a complete waste of money, since you're guaranteed another loss.
So here's my advice: Sit in this rehab facility for 60 days and think about the poor choices you've made. I'm all about people smoking pot, but not the less responsible members of our society. If you ended up in court over pot, you shouldn't be smoking it. When you get out, find yourself a new job (if you're termed, and you were, you'll undoubtedly be fired) and start over.
Think of this as a second chance. |
