Should men have rights when it comes to abortion?

tordor111
It is her body her mind to deal with the situation should she choose the abortion, even though I do not support abortion, I beleive the woman has the right. If a man wants the child, maybe she should have the child and give it to the father she didn't want it. But men don't get the say so does it matter? Make sure it is the right girl.

I wouldn't say rights....but I would say he should at least be part of the decision process. This is a very sticky subject and I'm sure it won't be resolved for a long while.

No, I believe that it is the womans body and final judgment should be placed on her. I do believe that he should be told. Although, I have met women that try to get pregnant to lure the man into her life. Then it may be a different story. But is it the mans fault that she got pregnant? NO also. If I was a woman and did not want to get pregnant, then I wouldn't. If I did then it's my fault not his (it's my body). But he will be held responsible (not fair). That's what I tell my daughter.

As soon as the technology to remove a foetus from the natural womb and place it in the father, or in an 'artificial' womb, until full gestation, then the father has a valid, legal say. Until then, the father has no legal ability to dictate to the woman what she should do to her body, including pregnancy. In an ideal world, the couple would talk about all the options and decide what is best, but we don't live in Utopia.

No, not until they are the ones who have to be pregnant and give birth.

sure, why not? although, they shouldn't be regulated legally. if he is in the life of the mother and is a good man, she probably wouldn't be thinking of abortion to begin with.

If the man doesn't want children, he uses a condom. Or should at least- that's the only time when he can affect it. Otherwise it is, and should be decided by the woman who is impregnated.

YES,that child just did not appear in your womb,It took a man to conseave, but I guess that would be your method of birth control, that child didnt ask to be conseaved, but it is a life it has rights to,to live! use your head keep your legs closed if your not smart enough to use birth control!

i think they should poor guys

He should have the right to keep a woman from murdering his baby, and he should be willing to rear that child by himself. Abortion is a sin.

Chefed#1
Yes,but they should be willing to sign a document that says they would keep and Raise the child ,and also to release the mother of all legal responsibilities.

JonzoJ
maybe and maybe not... he is the reason the girl is pregnant in the first place. Maybe it was bad thinking on both parts since the woman should have made him wear a condom or should be on birth control herself, but its her body either way, and if she doesnt want to keep the baby it should be her decision and the father should be accepting of that decision since he's played a part in her being pregnant in the first place and hes not the one that has to carry that burden of being pregnant for 9 months

They have the option to wear a condom. Only idiots don't. After that it's up to mom and I'd say that's the right way to do it. I'd also guess that is the way most men want it.

I would have to say no and here is why. The man doesn't have to carry that baby for 9 months in their womb. They don't gain weight, get stretch marks and then have to go through labor. The man only has to contribute about 5 (being nice here) minutes of his time to make that baby and a woman has to deal with it for 9 months. Besides possession is 9/10th of the law.

Ethically, yes the woman should tell the father and discuss the right option for both. BUT legally, it's the woman's choice to make the final decision. Unless of course you think a woman is just an incubator machine... edited to add: birth control is not 100% effective people... especially condoms.

I THINK THE "FATHER" SHOULD HAVE A RIGHT TO HIS INPUT AND WEMON SHOULD LISTEN IF YOUR GOING TO SLEEP WITH SOMEBODY KNOW THEM WELL ENOUGH TO KNOW WHERE YOU BOTH STAND ON THE CHILDREN ISSUE BUT ULTIMATELY IT IS THE FEMALE WHO HAS TO CARRY THE CHILD AND UNTILL THEY CAN PLACE THE FETUS IN THE MALE WELL HE SHOULDN'T BE ALLOWED TO TELL HER WHAT TO DO WITH HER BODY. AVOID THIS ALTOGETHER MARRY FIRST AND /OR USE BIRTH CONTROL

Absolutly, it is the man's child as well, and there needs to be some legislation concerning his right to either save the child or push for an abortion. A man that wants the abortion, when the woman decides to have the child, is still forced to pay child support. On the otherside, a man that does not want the abortion, when the woman decides to abort the child, is left without his own child. How laws could help better serve both genders, I do not know, but its just another aspect of a highly controversial and difficult subject to tackle

oh really
The male should have some say when it comes to his offspring and a woman who he impregnated, but it shouldn't be his choice alone. After all, he's not the one who would be carrying it around or pushing it out of his body, now is he? And just because a man is against abortion doesn't mean he's ready to be a father. Ideally, the couple should talk about their choices and make a mutual decision. But everyone knows how that doesn't always work. Considering women hardly have the right to choose now, I doubt legislation will be passed anytime soon dictating how much say a man can have in the abortion of a fetus he seeded. If you're a man who doesn't want to have his "rights as a father" taken away when your potential child is aborted, don't knock the girl up in the first place. It's your right to not put it in, and it's hers to not become the mother of your child.
