Summoned to Jury Duty, don't know what to expect?

I'm summoned to jury duty on february 14th. I have to call the night before to see if my number is called. I'm Jurer #36. A few years ago, I was a full time student, so I was able to get out of it, but this time I wanna go, and I have to if my number is called. Is there a good chance I will have my number called? I know their is like 12 jurers or something on a panel, but I do have a low number and might get called. How does jury duty process work? If I get called when will I have to give my input on whether or not the defendant is guilty or not guilty? I know if it's a big case that lasts a couple of months, than they might ask me for my opinion or something like that. I don't know exactly how it works? I'm interested in that kind of stuff, but I have trouble focusing a lot, and have add, and it's hard enough to pay attention to law and order on television even though I do understand the plots and everything. If my trial is 2 months long, I don't think I could even remember the entire case to give a good point of view, and how the law process works, because I'm not street smart lol. What do they ask the people when it comes down to that point? Any information on how jury duty works will be helpful. I can't get out of it this time since I'm 26, and I'm not a full time student, but I do want to go if I'm called because I'm interested in that kind of stuff, just will be fidgeting all day in the court room druing the case, and I get bored easilym and I have presciption medicine to help keep me focused, which works, but I still want to go? How long will I be in jury duty each day, and am I allowed to bring cigarettes and a lighter inside or matches, and do they give breaks, not that I need one, and not that it matters.

expect to show up and be bored, the law moves slowly. there are new jury trials starting all the time, so they do need a lot of jurors. but it's not a fast process. you may show up and hang for a couple hours or more and then be dismissed. like as not, one of the attorneys will notice that you have add and excuse you anyway.

Don't worry about it. Just show up are the right place and time and the court staff will explain the procedures to you and if you are seated on a jury for a trial - the judge will also give you clear instructions on exactly what you are supposed to be doing and the rules as to how things are done.
