Was there a ruling by a court in the US against employer's checking the emails of employees?

FRANK R
There was a recent ruling that said that the emails are property fo the employer, and that the empoloyer has full right of access to the records. In addition, the employer can store those files for the indefinite future. In some professions, employer may be required by law to store these for a minimum period of time. An example of this would be an employee of a firm that had a Pentagon Contract. The firm may be required to have their security division read all emails going in, and those going out, to make sure that security is not breeched. I am positive of this.
