I've heard a lot of ppl talking about Obamacare and there's generally mixed feelings about it from what I've heard. But what exactly is it and how is it different from health care before?

It's a term coined by right-wing radicals to take your attention away from the fact that bill could actually benefit the country - thus making the Democratic Party look strong and for the people.
It's a political ploy and it's pretty sad that the Republicans as a party aren't willing to really consider the bill (Which has passed anyway, so they need to accept it!).
The Healthcare Bill which passed this week is a bill which extends insurance coverage to those who would otherwise have no chance at insurance costs, it should reduce the cost of healthcare for the average consumer as well as for the government. |

It's the paranoid conservative delusion that the Health Insurance reform legislation implicated the creation of Universal Health Care system.
In actuality, the Obama reforms are fairly Conservative. There's an Individual Mandate which makes purchasing Privatized Health Insurance mandatory, taxation on "Cadillac plans*," and the elimination of the dreaded pre-existing conditions Americans have a problem with. Of course, I've barely even skimmed the surface of the legislation with this list, but those are three big points about the bill.
