Ernesto	Listen to thatgirl90217. In addition: When the English left Israel in 1948 there was no prevailing government in control of it. Previously the Palestinian side rejected an offer where they could have most of Israel, they wanted it all. It should be noted that all or most Arab states would not and still will not take in Palestinians. Yet the Arab states state that they support Palestinians. They really don't care about them and want to use them as pawns against Israel. The former Palestinian leaders like Arafat, stole many millions of dollars from the Palestinian people and had a palace in France or another European county. You would think that the Palestinian people would have put all the millions of aid they have received to good use like developing manufacturing and modern agriculture and so on, but they seem to just wan more armaments to fight and even when they get some of Israel's land back- they ruin the prosperity that was there.

According to the Bible (and the scholar Herodotus), the Israelites were promised the entire region of "Gentiles" such as descendants of Ishmael, one of the two sons of Abram and Sarai... after Isaac was born (the name means "laughter" because she heard strangers (angels) promise her a son when she was 90 and Abram was 100... Sarai figured her handmaiden would have the child for her, thus Ishmael... Abram and Sarai became Abraham and Sara after Isaac was born... Ishmael was promised offspring more numerous than the stars... so was Isaac... you now have Arab descendants of Ishmael and Israelites as descendants of Israel who used to be Jacob... Esau, as you recall, sold his birthright to which he was entitled by being born a couple minutes before Jacob (which name means heel because all that stuck out of Jacob's was his heel, then Esau came completely out followed, then, by Jacob) Israel had 12 sons...the region was divided into 12 tribes... That whole area was promised to the children of Israel, as they came to be know, also known as Israelites... Israel is now occupying a small percentage of the entire amount of land promised to them... Palestine is just another piece of the pie Israel has to cede...

bingo8900	I'm sorry but all the answers posted are missing one small point. What is the Middle East made up of? ARAB COUNTRIES. They hate America and Western civilization. So, if you got into a war with an Arab country, who would help you? That whole region is hostile! Therefore, the United States supports Israel because it is their only REAL ally in the whole Middle East. Thank you.
