Will Americans outlaw private gun ownership NOW?

I haven't seen ONE single message of sorrow on YA for the 6 poor souls that died the other day including a nine year old girl. I'm sure that the Americans on here are not all bad, but many are such idiots to keep arming themselves to the teeth and trying to justify it after this latest fiasco.... one of many incidents.

PBJ	They haven't outlawed gun ownership when presidents were assassinated. They're not going to do it now. BTW, England gives permits for private gun ownership too. Don't try to pass yourself off as superior.

Sarah	Guns don't kill people, people kill people. Everyone(not counting those with criminal records) has the right to own/carry a gun.

Stick to your own countries laws and leave the rest of us Law abiding citizens alone - stop punishing good people for the actions of mad men and start holding people accountable for their actions, stop coddling criminals their whole lives and making up new BS laws so they don't have to pay for their crimes!!! Ashcan	The Gun Lobby will probably try to get them derugulated and say that if everyone carried a gun they could protect them selves. They are the same people that think it is criminal to weigh up the odds of 1 horse running faster than another and winning.

JZD	Only when the last citizen is dead. The freedom to bear arms in practise seems to me to be the freedom to get shot at. As long as a large section of the US population equates the freedom to own a gun with actual freedom itself, the NRA will continue to grow fat on the bodies of the slain innocents. Of course the 'freedom' to own a gun is no more about real freedom that the freedom to buy a refrigerator. The difference is that nutter can't kill many people with a refrigerator. "Guns don't kill people, people kill people" (c) the NRA Yeah - but people with guns kill more people than those without guns [that's why the give them to the Army]; and you can't control the unstable, but you can try to stop them getting hold of sub-machine guns.

old know all	That's not the way the American psyche works. A maniac has tried to assassinate a Congresswoman and has murdered a load of people in a shopping mall - we must buy more guns to defend ourselves from maniacs.

Duffer	The gun lobby is too powerful, and the revenue generated is too much for the Administration to resist and do what's right.

Our right to keep and bear arms comes from the rights that Englishmen earned in the Glorious Revolution. It stands for the proposition that the nobility, and their soldiers and sheriffs cannot hold a monopoly on the right to bear arms. You are just jealous that we enshrined it in our Constitution, while the British Olympic Pistol Team lost it and has to practice in Ireland.
