for instance if I buy a house and I want to divide the house on 6 parts to rent those to different people are there laws that I must review to allow to do that?

Quizzard	Those regulations concern several areas. The health department will have a say in whether there are sufficient sanitary facilities. The fire department will have a concern about fire safety. You will certainly need multiple smoke detectors, you may need sprinklers. The city will have jurisdiction over parking, zoning, etc. Nobody cares what you do if it's a single family dwelling. Once you offer it for rent, it opens a whole can of worms.
