You can always go and watch Court proceeding in Canada provided they have not been closed by a Judge (child custody/abuse cases are closed to protect the children). Just remember to act in accordance to the rules. No hats, gum chewing, electronic equipment, and always be respectful to the Court.

Court proceedings in Canada are public. It's extremely rare for the public to be excluded from a court proceeding - in fact, even where there is a 'publication ban' members of the public who wish to attend in person are generally not barred from doing so (though they won't be allowed to report on what they see). If you want to attend a court proceeding, you should just go to a courthouse and look around. Depending on where you are, there will likely be an information desk where you can find out what's going on, but even if there's not you might try asking someone about what's going on (I suggest asking someone who is not busy, and looks like they are there in some official capacity like a lawyer or a clerk - try to avoid asking people who are there for trials. They may not be in a mood to be bothered, and probably won't be able to help you anyways!) If you find something interesting you want to watch, enter the courtroom quietly and take a seat in the public gallery (usually bench seating behind a wooden or brass bar). Sit quietly and respectfully, and remember to stand when the judge enters or leaves. Remember that people around you may be directly interested in a trial (family and friends, even witnesses who have already given evidence). If you have a burning question that you just need answered my advice again would be to ask someone who is working in an official capacity and not obviously busy - remember that they are doing their job, though, and might not have time to help you.
