crb checks?

when did companys start charging for these checks cos i remember them being free at some point? reason im asking is because im being chared for one i had done in 2000 my employer has only just now taken the money off me!

Depends who it's for - if you had one for a school they would be liable becuase they have to do each check themselves and not take a past clearance from another institute. Also, did they inform you about the charge before you submitted the form cos if not they have no chance.

Thay seems a bit naughty of them only to be taking the money now,did they ask you first or just take? Most companies pay for the cost of disclosure, it only tends to be if you are self employed that you pay yourself,though no hard and fast rules.Think I'd be asking the why's and wherefores as to why you've been charged now and let them know you are unhappy with their policy,even if you don't get reimbursed,it might make them change the way the do it in future.

talk to your employer - they cannot possibly justify charging you for it years later - that is ridiculous!! its down to companies' own discretion if they make you foot the bill or not - but you should be given that choice before you agree to have one done - I cant see any justification for charging you years later without your consent, I would complain, loudly!!

I dont think they can! Also after 5 years they dont have a cat in hell chance of recovering the money! Tell them no way!

I'd be in serious debt if they charged. I have had 4 teaching jobs in last 4 years, each time they wanted a fresh check n each time they lost it - don't ever put on your bank details, I point blank refuse. I've never been charged, maybe my bosses pick up the bill??

I didn't think they were supposed to charge. I work for NHS and they are pretty tight and even they dont charge.
