do i have to declare criminal convictions which are spent on a crb check?

ok i was in trouble 15 years ago and 10 years ago, do i have to declare them to an employer who will do a crb check? if they are doing a standard check do? if its enhanced then i do is that right? the question will be have you had any criminal convictions so what do i do? also if i am unsure of the offence 15 years ago how can i find out what it was? im sure it was burglaray but i was just outside the building and i was the only one caught and pleaded guilty but didnt go in the building or handle stolen goods? the job is working selling digital tv in a shopping centre, its not dealing with minors or vulnerable people! thanks

If they ask the question then yes. If you need a CRB then the question will be asked. Honesty is always the best way and always better than them finding out afterwards. Perhaps if you go to your local police station and ask? Take some ID with you. Good luck with the job!

Time to change my name!
Most applications here in the US say have you had any convictions within the past 10 years, if that's the case you have to look at the dates and be honest. If it says "EVER HAD" a conviction, yes, you have to declare them UNLESS you were a juvenile when they were committed. If you were a juvie they aren't accessible to the background check.

They will find out in a CRB check. And you will have to declare it, anyway, so it won't get as far as that. And you will not get the job when you have a criminal conviction. Especially if it's burglary, and especially as you are supposed to be handling valuable goods. Common sense.
