how do you get your personal property,a billfold, back from bounty hunters?

my finance' got a dwi, while under his truck fixing the clutch,in missouri this summer.he ended up not going to court,so they issued a FTAwarrent.the bounty hunters ended up arresting him,in okla&took him to mo.well his billfold w/cash, id, c-cards ect;didnt make it with him.the bountys still have it,and we cant seem to get it back.its really a frustrating deal!they keep saying they will meet w me &give it back.this has gone on sinse12/15/2010should i call the police&report it missing?i have talked to the BH'S several times, the last time he said it was w/his partner,150miles away,&for gas money,he would go get it.that was almost 2weeks ago,&now he wont answer or return my calls.what should i do i am almost sure he could ha beat that charge if he had gone to court, but he didn't.does that give those bounty hunters the right to go to his family&friends homes&say that my fiance"was in terrible trouble &that he was charged with child molestation?and do those bh's have the right to slander me as well, in front of my 12 year old daughter by saying false info.about me being "heavly into drugs?"

I am a Bounty Hunter in TN and we are not supposed to keep the property that is with the fugitive it is to be turned in with the fugitive at the Jail in which county they are returned to. If it has been this long and you have still not had any luck with the Recovery Agents I would call either 1) the local police department or 2) the bail bonding company that you went through to get him out before he got arrested. I hope this helps and for the other answer on here NO most bounty hunters are NOT thief's you have a select few that is out there to do wrong but not most of them! **Also** As a bounty hunter they can go to any physical address that they have on file and they can say just about anything to capture the fugitive. There is no law that stipulates what we can and can not say. Here is what we go by ourselves: Taylor vs. Taintor - United States Supreme Court "When bail is given, the principal is regarded as delivered to the custody of his sureties. Their dominion is a continuance of the original imprisonment. Whenever they choose to do so, they may seize him and deliver him up in their discharge, and if that cannot be done at once, they may imprison him until it can be done. They may exercise their rights in person or by agent. They may pursue him into another state; may arrest him on the Sabbath; and if necessary, may break and enter his house for that purpose. The seizure is not made by virtue of new process. None is needed. It is likened to the rearrest, by the sheriff, of an escaping prisoner."

Most bounty hunters are criminals. Report the wallet stolen.
