what are my rights against social services?

My children went into foster care in 14th dec 2009 as my lifestyle was hectic so i put them into foster care to show them that my lifestyle could change now 6 months later ive changed my lifestyle so much that social services are now picking on me saying that im too young to handle my 3 children what can i do to put this right?

The thing is as you voluntarily put them in foster care, as hard as it was, the social services will not want to return them to you unless they are 100% sure it is the right thing to do, and that 2 or what ever months down the line the children wont be returned. I would recommend you getting a solicitor. What you will have to do is show over a period of time that you are a fit mother who can take care of the children. That will begin with visits from their foster families, as well as checks from social services about you abilities to function. For example do you have a job, a way of supporting the children should they be returned to you? Have you got some where adequate to live, enough room for each of them and no dodgy boyfriends or lodgers? Are you recovering from some sort of addiction? Because they will be wary of you relapsing due to the pressure of the children. They wont be returned to you straight away. From the moment you found out you were pregnant, that should have been enough for you to straighten yourself out, but it wasn't and as a result the children have had to suffer by being up routed and placed in foster care. You need to stop thinking about your self and people picking on you and think about them. Is it going to be the best thing for them to come back to you, because if you know in your heart of hearts this is just going to repeat 10 months down the line there is no point causing all this heart ache. If you firmly believe it was a blip and it will never happen again you should get advice either from a solicitor or the Citizens advice might be able to recommend a good solicitor.

You are going to have to get a lawyer - it is very common for child services to not want to let go of kids they get because the more kids they have in the system, the more money they get from the government. child services will frequently make up lies and get photos of you doing something that they can claim makes you an unfit mother. so DONT DRINK, dont smoke and dont go out at nights - dont have a social life. But you DO NEED to get a lawyer and yes I know lawyers are expensive. Find a family lawyer if you can who can work pro bono. I have read many stories of other mothers like you who put their kids into temporary foster care and then have to get a lawyer and fight for years to get the kids back. the trick is to NEVER put them into foster care to start with.
