Can I get unemployment if I quit my job for not being paid?

Can I get unemployment if I quit my job for not being paid?

I was on Leave of Absence because of my father's death at the beginning of December for 2 days. Then I got bereavement for 3 days. Then I was put back on LOA for 3 more days and then I got a paid vacation. I had to extend my LOA for 2 more days after my vacation because I had gotten extremely sick *a Sunday and a Monday*. When I got back *Wednesday because I had an off day that Tuesday*, I hadn't been returned to the time system and was told it would be up to 48 hours for me to be returned and in the mean time I'd have to fill out forms of all my break and lunch punches. After 48 hours, I still had not been returned to the system. I continued to fill out forms for the next week and a half because both the head supervisor and my supervisor were gone on vacations with the holidays. I was supposed to have gotten paid last Friday *the day before New Year's Eve* and no one had my check. I talked to the head supervisor Monday and he said he'd work to get me returned to the system and that he would get me a check. I was off on Tuesday and Wednesday and Thursday I asked if he had my check and he said no, but he would go get it the next day *today*. When I got to work today, he was not there and had not left a check and no one would call him to ask what happened. My supervisor said he was going to call the head of our HR department and hadn't heard back from her all day. I currently have 65 cents in the bank because I've gone 3 weeks without pay and have had to several bills. My former supervisor had forbidden me from going to the bathroom *she has since been moved to another department* and I feel like I am receiving unfair treatment since i'm one of about 5 employees out of 300 who have been there over a year and all I ask is a check for what I'm owed and never ask for anything else at that place. Am I able to get unemployment if I quit for not being paid?

It appears that you were off 5 days for bereavement, 5 days LOA and either 1 or 2 weeks vacation. The standard in most companies for a close family member is 3 days bereavement. Your LOA was for sickness and for unknown reasons. You then state had to fill out forms for break and lunch punches which is something I never heard of. Was your vacation scheduled in advance or did you take it due to the loss of your father and needed addtl time to grieve and finish up things for your family? Do you get paid for sick time or any LOA, or does this time have to be approved? My guess that all the time off needed to be approved by your supervisor who then was on vacation and was not there to allow this time to be paid. Do you get paid weekly/by-weekly? Many companies will pay you any time owed on the following payday but if this time had not been approved by management could delay it or see if actually owed. Granted the death of your father would never be planned, but the other time should have been with the exception of sickness which may mean you need a doctors excuse. To get UI benefits, you must lose your job through no fault of your own and so far it appears you are still working sporadically and not getting paid is most likely a "glitch" to be worked out by your company, the question is how much do they actually owe you. My guess is that what is owed to you will be on your next scheduled paycheck, but most likely will have plenty of forms to complete to be allowed and if the company approves it. But if you applied to unemployment would most likely be denied, since what you have is a dispute of wages owed and is still working. good luck and sorry for the loss of your father.
