My workplace and smoking?

I'm 17 I work at a cake shop. people I work with get 5 min smoke breaks but non smokers (like me) don't get any breaks exept lunch (30 mins) I was thinking of taking up smoking just to get a break throughout the day ?????? Any advice

Since your a minor, I believe for every 5 hours you work you are entitled a 30min rest break...I'm not sure of which state you're in or any specific laws that would apply to that...but it could be a starting point.
As far as the smokers v. non smokers argument, you wouldn't be able to (legally) smoke given that you are 17 so that may not help your case. Try bringing it up to management and ask them for a quick break and point out that it's an inconsistently applied policy that smokers are being allowed breaks and you are not. |
