Work Compensation and Holidays?

Work Compensation and Holidays?

My husband had been working on restrictive duties at work due to a work related injury he suffered a few months with his hand. The company he works for shuts down for the majority of its workers for about 5 weeks over the Christmas and New Year Period only keeping on a small number of staff to keep things clean really. Because of his restrictive duties there was talk he would be one of those to work over the period, but it wasn't official, just highly likely, almost guaranteed. However, just before the company went on holiday, my husband went and had his hand operated on under work compensation and was given four weeks off by the surgeon. I guess my question is, is my husband entitled to any work compensation pay for the four weeks he has to have it off, or because it's holidays anyway he's only entitled to his annual leave pay? Even though he would have worked the holidays.

If he hasn't been release to full or limited duty yes. Because all those people who get laid off for 5 weeks would normally at least have the option of going and getting a job or getting unemployment. If he can;t work he can't get UI.
