paralegals who make the most money?
Find answers to your legal question.

paralegals who make the most money?

what specialty of law are they in?

Prorkycake
As a paralegal, I can tell you there is no accurate answer to this question. I actually know quite a few corporate paralegals that make close to nothing. I know a few IP paralegals that make a small fortune. If you go into generalities, the highest paid paralegals work in high-rise downtown firms and have more than ten years experience. It isn't the "specialty of law" that makes a difference. The factors are where, how long, what responsibilities are expected of you, experience and education. The paralegals that make the most money are in ALL areas of law. Their commonalities are 10+ years of experience. They have one or all of the following certifications: Certified Paralegal, Registered Paralegal, their state's Board of Legal Specialization designation and/or actively participates in their career. This is from my experience. You cannot pigeon hole something like salary on one particular area of law. I know many criminal law paralegals that make more than corporate law paralegals. Your salary is dependent on how good you are, what size firm you work for, how many attorneys you are responsible for, and whether or not you are an efficient biller. NOT on what area of law you work in.

Poster "Sam" is correct: "You need customers that actually have money." And right now, no one has any money to pay an attorney. Legal Professionals are getting laid off left and right. We simply already have way too many Legal Professionals. AND the legal profession is dramatically changing: it is in absolute CRISIS! Job searching in this vocational field has changed >>DRAMATICALLY<< in the last five years. And, every year, more and more people graduate from law school, but there are fewer and fewer jobs. Even the largest and most reputable law firms are experiencing unprecedented cutbacks. I don't expect the situation to improve in the coming years..... Be aware of what you are proposing on getting yourself into. Please do more research first. Reminder: We are STILL in a World-wide Recession. Obviously, economic conditions affect the number of jobs available. Consider career paths that have available JOBS.<< Even in a Recovery, there are some jobs that just won't return - the field of Law won't make a comeback. Too many things have changed in this vocational field.

-Corportate law. Forget workign for a bankruptcy lawyer, divorce lawyer, etc. You need customers that actually have money.
